Questions
Is my text sent to a server?
This page does not send it; it hands it to the browser's speech synthesis (Web Speech API). Some browsers offer online voices that are generated on their provider's servers, so for private text choose a local voice.
Why do voices differ between devices?
Voices come from the operating system and browser, so Windows, macOS, Android and iOS each offer different ones.
Can I download an MP3?
Browser speech synthesis cannot save audio files, so playback only for now.
How is the language detected?
Hangul means Korean, kana or kanji mean Japanese, anything else English.
Does it read long texts?
Some browsers stop partway through very long texts; read them in parts.
